K-VG (Vortex Generator)
Vortex Generator for Improved Wake Flow and Propeller Inflow
K-VG is a stern-mounted energy-saving device developed by SILLAMETAL that improves propeller inflow quality while reducing hull resistance. By generating controlled vortical structures upstream of the propeller, K-VG improves wake uniformity, reduces propulsion power requirements, and mitigates cavitation, vibration, and underwater radiated noise (URN).
How It Works
- Induces streamwise vortices along the hull surface
- Energizes low-velocity flow at the stern, recovering wake pressure loss
- Guides high-momentum fluid toward the propeller inflow
- Reduces hull resistance and improves propeller efficiency
